Zero-Trust Architecture
MassiveTrust is built on the premise that internal networks are inherently hostile. This document outlines our cryptographic implementations, malware quarantine pipelines, and data sovereignty boundaries designed to satisfy strict enterprise procurement requirements and EU AI Act mandates.
1. C2PA Cryptographic Implementation
At the core of the MassiveTrust pipeline is our proprietary Python-based C2PA signature engine. This microservice guarantees the unforgeable provenance of all ingested media by cryptographically binding an immutable JSON-LD manifest to the file's binary structure.
- X.509 Certificate Authority (CA) Chain: Every asset is signed using a strict X.509 PKI infrastructure. MassiveTrust acts as the root signing authority, ensuring that the identity of the originating organization and the exact ingestion timestamp are mathematically verifiable.
- Hardware Security Modules (HSM): Private signing keys are never exposed to the compute plane memory. All cryptographic operations are routed through Google Cloud Key Management Service (KMS) HSMs, ensuring keys cannot be extracted by malicious actors or memory-dump exploits.
- Tamper-Evident Hashing: The Python worker calculates a SHA-256 hash of the core media binary. Any subsequent alteration to the file—whether by a human editor or an AI model—invalidates the signature, immediately flagging the asset as compromised.
2. Malware & Quarantine Protocols
To protect your internal network and downstream AI models from zero-day exploits, steganography, and malicious payloads, MassiveTrust enforces a strict, air-gapped ingestion pipeline.
The Ingestion Lifecycle
- The Sandbox: All client uploads are routed to a volatile, public-facing Ingress Bucket. No processing occurs here.
- MDSS / OPSWAT Scanning: Eventarc triggers a serverless worker to scan the raw binary using multi-engine threat detection and Deep Content Disarm and Reconstruction (Deep CDR).
- The Quarantine Vault: If a threat is detected, the file is instantly moved to an isolated Nearline Quarantine Bucket. This bucket has a strict 30-day lifecycle rule; infected files are permanently and automatically deleted by Google Cloud to prevent malware hoarding.
3. Data Residency & Geo-Fencing
For organizations operating under strict legal frameworks like GDPR, MassiveTrust provides absolute physical data residency guarantees. Our infrastructure is rigidly split into multi-region clusters (e.g., US and EU).
- Physical Isolation: Storage buckets, Cloud SQL databases, and Vertex AI compute nodes are physically restricted to the continent you select during workspace creation.
- Dynamic Geo-Fencing & WAF Isolation: To prevent accidental or malicious cross-border access, MassiveTrust offers two tiers of strict location-based access control depending on your deployment model:
- API-Level Geo-Fencing (Managed SaaS): Our API Gateway evaluates origin country headers (e.g., inspecting IP provenance) prior to issuing cryptographic Signed URLs. If a request originates outside your organization's permitted geographical boundary, authorization is instantly denied.
- Hardware-Level Cloud Armor (Sovereign BYOC): For absolute physical isolation, enterprise BYOC deployments can attach custom Google Cloud Armor WAF policies directly to their external Load Balancers. This drops unauthorized TCP connections at the global network edge before they ever reach the storage perimeter.
4. Customer-Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK)
By default, all data at rest is encrypted using Google-managed encryption keys. However, for organizations deploying Sovereign BYOC infrastructure, MassiveTrust supports seamless integration with Customer-Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK).
By provisioning a Key Ring via Cloud KMS in your own GCP project, you maintain the ultimate "kill-switch." MassiveTrust’s service accounts are granted the roles/cloudkms.cryptoKeyEncrypterDecrypter IAM role. If you suspect a breach or terminate your contract, you can instantly revoke this IAM binding. Without the KMS key, your ciphertext becomes mathematically unreadable to our platform, guaranteeing absolute data sovereignty.
